Good afternoon Steven. I am contacting you about the proposed parking permits on the street at 500-522 N Gertruda. I have a business (Eurosport) that has utilised this area (not much) for some of my customers to park cars for many years. There is also Jus Poke restaurant that has needs for customer parking, especially during lunch times. This is also close to the beach where people can park and walk, ride bikes, etc from to access the beach. I've been in business here for 25 years. Please let me know what I need to do to try to save this area for sharing. I have always been very courteous and mindful about the parking on Gertruda. Thank you in advance

Hi Steven,
I am writing to comment on the pending decision for case 2025-0359.

Our customers use the 4 hour parking that has been designated to pick up orders. They are usually parked in the designated parking for no longer than 30 minutes. Residents have been parking in this area for days at a time for the past 10 years. This will significantly affect our business and access to public parking for Navigoe, Jus’ Poke, and the auto shops.

Public Comment – Project File No. 2025-0359
(Gertruda Ave Parking Permit Zone)
Dear Redondo Beach City Council,
I am writing regarding the proposed preferential parking zone on North Gertruda Avenue (Project File No. 2025-0359) scheduled for public hearing on March 17, 2026.

I strongly oppose converting the existing 4-hour parking to a residential permit-only zone. The current 4-hour parking provides important access for nearby businesses and beachgoers to the coastal area. Removing this access would shift the parking burden to other nearby streets and reduce parking availability for the public.

The homes along this stretch of Gertruda Avenue already have garages and driveways, yet many residents choose to park on the street. Converting these spaces to permit-only parking would effectively privatize public street parking and eliminate one of the few remaining areas available for customers and visitors.

Public coastal areas and nearby businesses rely on reasonable parking access. The current 4-hour parking strikes a fair balance between residents and the public. Changing it to a permit-only system would unnecessarily restrict access to a public resource.

I urge the City Council to maintain the existing 4-hour parking zone and reject the proposed preferential permit parking.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Snow
