on beholf of the City of Redondo Beoch, we write in support of the motion - Reforming ond lntegroting Mentol Heolthcore within the County's Homeless Service System. Strengthening coordinqtion between the County's mentol heolth system ond the broqder homelessness response system is essentiol to improving outcomes for individuols experiencing homelessness ond serious mentol illness.
Cities qcross Los Angeles County ore octively oddressing homelessness through outreoch, housing novigotion, ond supportive services. However, gops in core occur when behoviorol heolth services operote seporotely from housing, outreoch, ond substonce use treotment progroms. Breoking down these silos is necessory to deliver effective ond losting support for individuols rn cnsrs.
Locol jurisdictions ore often on the front lines of this work. Cities coordinote outreqch teoms, porticipote in cose conferencing, ond portner with service providers to connect individuols to core. While cities ore toking steps to oddress mentol heqlth needs in the field, the more qcute behoviorol heolth services required for mony individuols must be provided by the County, which is best equipped to deliver thot level of core. Stronger coordinotion between the Deportment of Mentol Heolth, the Deportment of Heolth Services, ond the

Cities work closely with outreoch providers ond community portners, ond improved coordinotion with County deportments will strengthen informotion shoring ond help connect individuols to qppropriote services more quickly.
The motion's emphosis on field-bosed engogement, multidisciplinory teoms, ond cross depqrtmentol colloborotion reflects the level of coordinotion needed to strengthen the system of core. Aligning mentol heolth services, housing progroms, outreoch teoms, ond locoljurisdictions will improve the County's obility to respond effectively ond compossionotely to residents experiencing homelessness.
