This proposal runs contrary to planning efforts in recent years to revitalize our harbor (talking points):
- A working group developed a comprehensive Council-approved Harbor Public Amenities Plan. - The mayor led an effort to develop a complimentary Harbor Commercial Plan. - The recently approved Strategic Plan includes numerous Waterfront objectives. - An objective has been to compare our harbor management organizational structure to other cities.
Various cities incorporate stand-alone harbor departments, as our city has utilized in some past years. - The new Public Boat Launch Ramp will bring significant new recreational activity to our harbor.
Boaters and Harbor Stakeholders are encouraged to provide comments in support of preserving our independent Waterfront Director.
