Cultural Arts Commission's comment to be forwarded to the City Council. Regarding Gave Wave for the August 3 Council meeting
We are disappointed, as we understand you are as well, that the Gate Wave project has been canceled. However, we sincerely appreciate your support of this project throughout the process.
Our vision for Gate Wave was for it to become a landmark work of public art for our city.
While that project will not move forward, we believe we have an excellent opportunity to bring another landmark piece of art to this location and to our community.
The currently budgeted amount of $275,000 in the John Parsons Fund is necessary to ensure we can secure a project of this scale and significance. With your continued support, we look forward to bringing forward other equally compelling concepts for your consideration.
We understand that the allocation of these funds will be discussed, and we respectfully ask that the $275,000 remain dedicated to a future public art project of similar scale and impact in this same location.
