AUW will assist in countering homelessness in households and individuals by providing funding to sustain their homes while also providing food and transportation. With many eviction protection mandates expiring, an increased number of individuals seek supplemental assistance from agencies that can help maintain their housing by paying arrears and even future rent if needed. Food assistance will benefit households who have experienced a loss or reduction in income due to the Covid 19 pandemic and those who were experiencing hardships long before the pandemic began. Food vouchers will help support children at home who only receive meals at school and have limited nutritional options at home. Transportation assistance will give individuals and families access to needed services such as: doctor ' s appointments, job interviews, caseworker appointments for help, daycare services, and grocery stores for food.

The City of Rialto Community Services Department has a vision for a place where seniors could comfortably and safely become informed and not be intimidated by the Age of Information, fully embracing today's technology.
The Senior Computer Lab would be hous ed at the Grace Vargas Senior Center. 10 desktop computers would be made available for basic computer classes for interested participants and time for personal use. The Senior Computer Lab will be a place for learning where our Seniors learn to make daily tasks easier through the use of technology. Such as paying bills online, accessing vital information on low cost and free medication and health programs. We want to show our seniors the convenience of having the services go to their house instead of them having to drive to the service, especially for those that cannot rely on personal transportation. We also hope that those who have family in other states or countries can develop stronger relationships through the convenience and opportunity that social media and email provides.

The City of Rialto hosts a variety of contract classes for all different interests in our community. A contract class is an agreement between an independent contractor that has a unique skill they want to share and the Community Services Department. Contract classes range from guitar classes, line dancing, ballet folklorico to sports skills classes and notary public classes. Classes are on a fee based schedule. The City's own Community Services Department runs an inhouse Youth Basketball and Youth Volleyball sports leagues. Sports are fee based also. Unfortunately, not all youth in Rialto can afford such recreational and sports activities. The money invested in this will make sure that low income children have the same access to these enrichment activities as everyone else.
