SPRING-NOTICE TO DESTROY WEEDS AND REMOVE RUBBISH, REFUSE, AND DIRT Dear Property Owner:

IF YOUR PROPERTY IS FREE OF WEEDS, TRASH OR OTHER DEBRIS, PLEASE DISREGARD THIS NOTICE. HOWEVER, IF YOU ALLOW REGROWTH TO OCCUR, THE CITY WILL ABATE THE NUISANCE. YOU WILL RECEIVE NO FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE CITY.

This notice is to inform you that the City of Rialto is in the process of beginning its Spring Weed Abatement Program.

Rialto Municipal Code section 18.72.010 states that every owner, lessee, occupant, or person having charge of any property or premises within the city is required to maintain such property or premises in a manner so as not to violate the provisions of this chapter, and such owner, lessee, occupant or person in charge of the property or premises remains liable for violations hereof regardless of any agreement with any third party regarding such property or premises. The duty imposed by this section on a property owner shall in no instance relieve those persons herein referred to from their similar duty.

This includes dead, decayed or hazardous trees, weeds or other vegetation dangerous to the public safety and welfare or which constitute a fire hazard, including without limitation the following: 1. Overgrown vegetation likely to harbor rats or other vermin, 2. Overgrown grass or other vegetation having the potential to depreciate the property values of other properties in the immediate neighborhood.

Additionally, according to Municipal Code 18.72.010 (I) - vacant lots and vacant parcels of land, which are unprotected with security fencing, are required to provide a means of security in order to prevent illegal dumping.

YOU ARE HEREBY DIRECTED TO ABATE THE PROPERTY IDENTIFIED ABOVE BY DESTROYING ALL WEEDS AND REMOVING ALL RUBBISH, REFUSE AND DEBRIS.

If the property identified above is NOT CLEANED by May 1, 2023, the property will be cleaned and the nuisance abated by a City contractor and the cost of removal assessed as a special assessment against the property. If the City contractor cleans the property, you will be liable for the contractor’s fees plus an administrative fee of $149 per parcel. These charges will be levied and assessed against the property as a special assessment and placed on the secured property tax roll. Parcels not appearing on the tax rolls will be billed directly.

IF YOU ARE NO LONGER THE OWNER OF THIS PROPERTY, PLEASE INFORM THIS OFFICE IN WRITING IMMEDIATELY.

IF your property has been determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be habitat for the Delhi Sands Flower-Loving Fly, an endangered species, please contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service so they may provide you with the proper abatement procedures. You may reach them at 760-431-9440.

Additional information regarding this notice may be obtained by calling the Rialto Fire Department Weed Abatement Information Line at (909) 820-2691. Please have the parcel number(s) available when you call. Thank you for your cooperation.
