Mayor Robertson and Council Member Trujillo
City of Rialto

Rialto, CA 92376

Mayor Robertson and Council Member Trujillo:

Request The CDBG Ad-Hoc Committee To Combine Mobile Home Repair Grant Funds

BACKGROUND

The purpose of the Program is to promote the rehabilitation of housing stock in the City of Rialto (“City”). It is designed to provide assistance to eligible individuals for correction of health and safety deficiencies, and code violations.

The program has been designed to households, with a maximum rehabilitation of $10,000 for eligible repairs and an additional $10,000 for lead abatement costs if needed for the project. The program provides grants to low -income residents to conduct necessary rehabilitations to their homes . T his program assist s in keeping homes up to code by assisting in completing costly repairs.

Currently the City has received quotes for repairs from contractors ranging from $10,000 to $20,000. However, because these grants are currently separate, staff has been unable to move forward with repairs as they are over the $10,000 maximum cost of rehabilitation.

Recommendation

Staff is recommending that the Ad-Hoc committee allow the grant funds to be combined for a total grant amount of $20,000 to be used towards eligible repairs and lead abatement.
