She expressed concerns that the term “Community Benefit” but did not have community benefits and things that were listed by the developer as were done previously.
0o0
City Attorney Vail stated that many projects come forward with standard requirements such as widening of a road, connection of a sidewalk, or installation of a sidewalk. Those things can be a benefit to the community even though they are one of the standa rd requirements.

I don’t want to leave the audience with a perception that just because we impose a standard requirement, it’s not benefiting the community. 0o0
Mayor Robertson stated the City has gotten down the pathway with enormous community benefits that are not germane to this project is a different document than what we are looking at in terms of these things that are germane to the project or city community.

She stated that related to the police department, there is a possible breach or concern. The project is proceeding , and it was decided that the project would be on the footprint of where we are. It had nothing to do with the ability to seek more land or not.

There’s a belief that there could be better greater benefit provided to the police department, but our design was not one to be cut back because there was no plan to have any greater expansion of additional land.

She commented that the police project is proceeding on the current footprint regardless if the project moves forward or not. 0o0
Mr. Casey stated correct. The project site is a privately owned piece of property not owned by the City. A sales transaction to acquire additional property for police station expansion.
0o0
Mayor Robertson commented related to the audience members present, workers versus residents and emphasized that it is based on who arrives first. The Council Chambers’ space and capacity is limited and does not allow to accommodate the size. Community participation increases when it involves a development project.
