Adopt Resolution No. 8180 appointing
City Manager approving employment
agreement
David Carmany, City Manager, introduced himself to the City Council and the public and expressed his pleasure in becoming the new City Manager for the City of Rialto and is excited about the opportunity.
I believe local government is the highest level of government. If we do our jobs correctly, we are able to enrichen and ennoble the lives of those that we serve. Because local government is the highest level, often our services get taken for granted. If somebody gets home from work, and he’s in a good m ood because he didn’t hit any potholes ; I think we’ve done our job correctly. There’s far more to government infrastructure and government services than just service requests.
I look forward to working with this Council as you set goals . As you adopt a strategic plan, we’re going to be in touch with you about picking dates for a whole Council meeting that you might do that. Once that is in place, the budget will align with that and begin to work on those bold new horizons of community service.
I know that this City is blessed with a great staff, and I look forward to working with the Directors and with the people that serve this community on the front line as they do work, which positions this City for greatness.
I would like to take a moment to thank Interim City Manager Henry Garcia. He’s done a good job to get this City through a season of transition. He and I had a number of conversations. He’s identified some transition issues . Some are minor , some are major ; and I look forward to getting to work tomorrow morning. Again, thank you so much for the vote, and I can’t wait to get started.
0o0
Council Member Trujillo stated the City strives for stability. There has been many Interim City Managers over the last months and years. It is nice to have someone at the lead of the City to man the ship and in permanent capacity. The City deserves a stable leadership and bring the City Council and staff together for the City’s vision. He thanked him and looked forward to working with him.
0o0
Council Member Baca also welcomed City Manager Carmany. He hopes with his leadership, they will look at where the City is at present and where it needs to be as the City progresses and moves forward in enhancing image and pride. He looks forward to workin g with Mr. Carmany.
0o0
Mayor Robertson thanked City Manager Carmany for taking the time to participate in a rid e-around in the community to point out the City’s needs. She looks forward to getting started and addressing some of the day-to-day matters.
