RESOLUTION NO. 8537
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIALTO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ITS 2025-2026 FISCAL BUDGET TO THE CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR THE FIRE STATION 201 INTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS, CITY PROJECT NO. 25022 WHEREAS, the budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 of the City of Rialto has been adopted by this Council in its original form, and said budget will need to be amended at times to fulfill the goals of the City; and WHEREAS, the City departments may not exceed their appropriations by character of expense, with character of expense being defined as personnel services, services and supplies, capital outlay, debt service and transfers, without the consent of the City Manager; and WHEREAS, the City Manager may transfer appropriations between departments and within their respective funds, as long as those appropriations do not exceed their fund total unless approved by Council.
WHEREAS, On the evening of May 11, 2024, an errant driver collided with the west side of Fire Station 201, also known as Fire Headquarters, located at 131 S. Willow Avenue, Rialto, CA. The vehicle breached the building envelope and entered the station’s living/kitchen area, causing significant damage to the facility.
WHEREAS, On March 10, 2026, City Council authorized the release of bids for the Fire Station 201 Interior Improvements Project, City Project No. 25022.
WHEREAS, The City has been coordinating with its insurance adjuster and insurance representatives regarding reimbursement for eligible repair and restoration costs associated with the loss. Based on the low bid submitted by R Dependable Construction Inc., the insurance representatives have confirmed an undisputed amount of $904,589 toward the interior repair work.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIALTO DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Authorize an appropriation of $904,589 to Account No. 67302148-53001-25022-05 for the Fire Station 201 Interior Improvements, City Project No. 25022.
Section 2: Authorize an appropriation from the General Fund balance of $255,828 to Account No. 33005174-53001-25022-22 for the Fire Station 201 Interior Improvements, City Project No. 25022.
