RE: 2025-26 Demand Management Project Request

Dear Mrs. Hemmans;

Congratulations! On behalf of San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District (San Bernardino Valley), I want to commend the City of Rialto for your efforts to implement new regulatory standards and to achieve water savings. In an effort to provide a bridge to aid in the implementation of water efficiency efforts, City of Rialto’s full request has been approved for $50,000 toward the City of Rialto Water Conservation Program.

Our region continues to make major strides by working together to ensure long-term water resiliency. Demand management, also known as water conservation or water use efficiency, is one component of our dynamic water supply reliability efforts. The benefits result from reducing the demand on local supplies and taking steps to ensure resiliency of existing supplies. This approach was identified as a core strategy within the Upper Santa Ana River Watershed Integrated Regional Urban Water Management Plan adopted by San Bernardino Valley and local water retailers.

The Demand Management Program is administered by San Bernardino Valley and compliments efforts of local water retailers in administering water use efficiency programs that promote water savings. This program structure maintains the flexibility and choice for each water retailer to plan and implement a variety of programs and solutions while supporting sustainable water demand.

San Bernardino Valley is committed to working with partners to build a resilient and sustainable water future for the community. We commend your agency for efforts toward demand management. In celebration of regional water savings efforts, we would like to present a ceremonial check and acknowledge your participation in the Demand Management Program at a future City Council Meeting.

If you have any questions about this program or other water conservation efforts, please feel free to reach out to me by email at [email protected].

Respectfully,

Kelly Malloy
Strategic Communications Manager
