DISCUSSION:

The Bay Area Library and Information System (BALIS) Council has allocated funding to support staff development, public programming, and strategic planning initiatives at BALIS libraries. As a BALIS library, the Richmond Public Library has been allocated $7,000 for FY 2021-2022.

The Richmond Public Library intends to use these funds to support staff development in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership development, team building, library user experience, and other library-specific skill-building activities, including preparation for strategic planning initiatives. As the Richmond Public Library continues to work within restricted COVID conditions, these funds will help to support and improve staff morale, public services, and future planning.
