DISCUSSION:

The Richmond Public Library applied for and was awarded a grant for $3,550 from the California State Library’s Library Services and Technical Assistance (LSTA) grant program. The grant award is for the creation of NASA@MyLibrary library program kits to expand Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programming for children.

With these funds, the Richmond Public Library’s Children’s Services division will procure materials for and create two NASA@MyLibrary program kits to enable participation in the NASA@MyLibrary program. These kits will provide additional opportunities for library STEM programming.

The approved FY 2021-2022 budget did not anticipate funding for the NASA@MyLibrary program. These grant funds will allow the library to expand STEM programming for children without requiring the diversion of programming funds from other initiatives.
