The BALIS Council has allocated dedicated funding from its reserves to support staff development, public programming, or strategic planning initiatives at BALIS libraries. The total allocation available per BALIS library is up to $7,000 for FY 2021-22.

Provide a brief description of the intended use of the funding:
RPL requests $7,000 for staff development to include registration for online training in the areas of DEl, leadership development, team building, user experience and other library specific skill building activities. The Richmond Public Library has long endured insufficient staffing levels that negatively impact employee morale and productivity. Layer on the restricted COVID working conditions resulting in staff burnout and one can see the need to build back hope and fun in the workplace. As available, RPL will invite other BALIS libraries to participate in virtual training events.
