2022 Marks the 50th Anniversary of Sojourner Truth
Presbyterian Church
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
PROCLAMATION recognizing Sojourner Truth
Presbyterian Church for 50 Years of Service to the
Community – Councilmember Claudia Jimenez (510-620-
6565).
DISCUSSION:
Sojourner Truth Presbyterian Church was founded in 1972 with a name and purpose centered around community and advocating for all oppressed people.

Reverend Kamal Hassan currently pastors the Sojourner Truth Family with the dedication of enhancing the spirituality of the dispirited, restoring dignity to the disinherited, and bringing justice to the oppressed.
The Sojourner Truth Family’s fifty-year journey has included providing shelter and sustenance for the homeless through the Greater Richmond Interfaith Project, monthly food service, annual edification and recreational programming for youth and adults, Vacation Bible School for the youth and the Peace Camp.
The City of Richmond would like to recognize the Sojourner Truth Presbyterian Church for stepping up during the COVID-19 Pandemic by serving as a testing and vaccination site. These services are truly commendable and deserve recognition.
The City of Richmond congratulates and is a better city because of the contributions of the Sojourner Truth Presbyterian Church Family.
Happy 50th Anniversary.
