A RESOLUTION OF THE RICHMOND CITY COUNCIL
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE
PETITION, BALLOT, AND OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR ALL
CITY-OWNED PROPERTIES IN SUPPORT OF THE RENEWAL
OF THE DOWNTOWN RICHMOND PROPERTY & BUSINESS
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the property owners within the downtown commercial core propose renewal of the Downtown Richmond Property and Business Improvement District ( DRPBID) pursuant to the Property and Business Improvement Law of 1994, set forth in California Streets and Highways Code section 36600 et seq., which authorizes cities to establish property and business improvement districts for the purposes of promoting economic revitalization and financing activities and services to improve the overall ec onomic climate in said districts; and
WHEREAS, the City owns several properties within the proposed DRPBID, a list of which is attached as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, City-owned properties will have a total first -year annual assessment of approximately $39 ,305.10. Future assessment rates may be subject to an increase of no more than three percent (3%) annually. Funds are currently budgeted for continued participation in the DRPBID; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the public interest will be served by having these City properties participate in the DRPBID.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Manager is authorized to sign all documents on behalf of the City of Richmond in support of the DRPBID:
