City Clerk's Office

DATE: June 21, 2022
TO: Mayor Butt and Members of the City Council
FROM:

Pamela Christian, City Clerk

Subject:

Resolution call and giving notice of a municipal election on November 8, 2022
FINANCIAL IMPACT: As of April 13, 2022, the total number of registered voters in the City of Richmond is 58,677. For the November 8, 2022, Municipal Election, the cost estimate to conduct
the City Council component of the November election is
between $2.50 - $3.00 per registered voter. Accordingly, the estimated cost to hold the City Council election is $176,031. There is also the possibility of one or more municipal initiatives being placed on the ballot for the November election. The major cost driver for initiatives is the number of pages to be printed in the Sample Ballot
Booklet. It is estimated that a measure with 10 pages
would cost between $8,000 – $10,000. The City Clerk’s
Office budget (account string 01141013 – 400294) was
increased to cover the cost of the election.
