grant funds, in the amount of $3,500 from Sistas On The Links Golf Club, to fund a summer youth golf program at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park – Library and Community

DISCUSSION:

The Community Services Department -Recreation Division has held summer sports camps at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Baseball Field (MLK Baseball Field) for the past five years. The Summer Sports Camp includes tennis, soccer, and basketball. This year, the Recreation Division received a donation in the amount of $3,500 from the Sistas On the Links Golf Club to include a youth golf program as part of the Summer Sports Camp.

The four (4)-week youth summer sports program serves approximately 80 kids in the age range of 8 to 12 years old. This program also includes lessons on life-skills, nutrition, and how to lead active and healthy lifestyles. It will be a great honor to incorporate the Youth Golf Program into the established four (4)-week Youth Sports Camp. Golf will be an additional sport the kids can learn to play.

City staff is requesting City Council approval of a resolution to accept and appropriate the grant funds and adjust the FY 2022-2023 revenues and expenditures by $3,500.
