AGENDA
REPORT

DISCUSSION:
The City of Richmond Community Services Department was awarded the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Resilience Hubs grant award in the amount of $100,000 from PG&E to create power hubs at Nevin and Shields-Reid Community Centers. With the Resilience Hubs grant, backup energy supplies will be created to allow the facilities to function as resilience hubs (power hubs) in times of climate-related disasters.
The project will also support the PG&E Better Together Resilient Communities grant that was awarded to the City on November 30, 2021. With the Better Together Resilient Communities grant, shade and cooling structures with misting nozzles will be created.
The Resilience Hubs grant will be used to create storage for the structures and power stations.
The power hubs project is the result of a collaboration in grant application submittal with the City and Rebuilding Together East Bay-North (RTEBN), a local non-profit. Based on their integral role in the grant award, City staff has provided a sole source justification.
Through this contract, RTEBN will provide the following services:
Procurement
Mobilization
Electrification
Security
It is anticipated that the project will be completed by June 30, 2023.
