DISCUSSION:

This project involves construction of a 1.25-mile multi-use, ADA-compliant section of the San Francisco Bay Trail providing new public access along the Point Molate shoreline and connect the planned Bay Area Water Trail trailhead at Point Molate Beach Park with the Point Molate pier and Wineha ven Historic District.

In early 2022, City staff applied to ABAG for San Francisco Bay Trail construction grant funds to combine with other State funds for the Project. The City of Richmond was awarded a grant in the amount of $150,000 by ABAG for the Pro ject along with $2,000,000 from the State of California Proposition 68 grant funds to construct the Project. Design work will be completed by December 31, 2022, and construction to start in Spring 2023.

The City Council needs only to accept and appropriat e the ABAG grant funds to meet the grant requirements. The other State of California, Proposition 68 have already been accepted.
