Subject: Authorize Sole-Source purchase of two Trane heater units for Developing Personal Resources Center
(DPRC).
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The proposed $33,520 for this purchase is included in the Department of Public Works CIP Fiscal Year
2022-2023 budget (20136031-400708-23013).

STATEMENT OF THE ISSUE: The Department of Public Works is requesting City Council approval for the purchase of two Trane
heater units from Specialty A/C Products, Inc.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE the purchase of two Trane heater units from Specialty A/C Products, Inc. to replace two
malfunctioning units, in an amount not to exceed
$33,520 – Public Works Department (Jose Urquilla

DISCUSSION:
The two Trane heater units at the Developing Personal Resources Center (DPRC) have exceed their life expectancy and must be replaced. Over the past few years, the heater units have experienced several malfunctions, causing City staff to spend more time than usual maintaining them.
The Department of Public Works is requesting approval of a sole source purchase from Specialty A/C Products, Inc. that will allow City staff to remove and replace the existing units with two identical Trane units. If a different brand is purchased, it would require AGENDA

modifications that may void the warranty to the newly installed roof. In addition, purchasing the same brand will provide a cost savings as additional controls and accessories will not be needed.
