Outdoor Equity Grant Program Funds for the Youth
Outdoors Richmond Program
FINANCIAL IMPACT: These actions do not create any direct cost or liability to the City’s General Fund. The actions contemplated here would generate a one-time grant that does not have to be repaid. These funds would be administered by the
Community Services Department in accordance with
State of California Department of Parks and Recreation
rules and regulations. The Community Services
Department will adjust its budget accordingly and set up a fund for this program (10651051-334351-25G12)

ISSUE:
City staff is requesting City Council to approve a
resolution to ACCEPT and APPROPRIATE grant funds in
the amount of $700,000 from the State of California
Department of Parks and Recreation Outdoor Equity
Grant Program Funds for the Youth Outdoors Richmond
Program

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
ADOPT a resolution to ACCEPT and APPROPRIATE
grant funds in the amount of $700,000 from the State of California Department State of Parks and Recreation
Outdoor Equity Grant Program Funds for the Youth
Outdoors Richmond Program – Library and Community
Services department (LaShonda White/Jene Levine-
Snipes 510-307-8132).
DISCUSSION:
Youth Outdoors Richmond Program is a combination of volunteer work, activities, and field trips designed specifically for Richmond youth and their extended families and friends. Program participants will experience activities in the community and local and regional natural area trips and activities for both education and self-discovery, as well as nature exploration.
On September 14, 2021, City of Richmond staff submitted the application for the Youth Outdoors Richmond Program. On May 27, 2022, the City was awarded the Outdoor Equity Grant funds for the Youth Outdoors Richmond program. The program must begin by December 1, 2022.
City staff is requesting City Council to adopt the resolution to accept and appropriate the grant funds and adjust the FY 2022-2023 revenues and expenditures by $700,000.
