from years 2018 through 2022. This presentation will cover all part-1 offenses, which include property and violent crimes.
Additionally, the Richmond Police Department will be transitioning away from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) model and adopt the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) model. This transition provides consistency throughout the United States and will help to quantify crime nationwide. Reported crime under NIBRS in comparison to the UCR will reflect a statistical increase in crime, so it is important to understand why. The presentation will address the differences between the two crime reporting methodologies and update the City Council and public as to why these changes are necessary.
