DISCUSSION:
K-rails and gawk screens are needed to allow for a temporary detour of the San Francisco Bay Trail that traverses the Castro Encampment to run along the Castro Street frontage, while the encampment is being resolved. The temporary detour has been discussed with Trails for Richmond Action Committee (TRAC) and ABAG Bay Trail staff.
Three quotes were obtained from 48Barriers, Statewide Traffic Safety and Signs, and First Vanguard Rentals and Sales (Attachment 1). 48Barriers was the only firm that could provide the exact product the City was seeking for this project.
48Barriers provided a quote for the purchase and delivery of K-rails and gawk screens for a total of $35,765 (Attachment 2). City staff is requesting a 15 percent contingency of $5,364.75, for a total purchase amount of $41,129.75, to allow for any change orders and/or price changes at the time of delivery.
