in Richmond, California. Marinda’s Family Daycare has been an integral business in the early development of 400 children and families in our community for 35 years.

Ms. Marinda prepares all of her children for school. Ms. Marinda started off teaching her kids with “Hooked on Phonics” in the 1990s, and now she has developed her own curriculum that she teaches her children. At 3-5 years of age, the children are doing work at a 1st grade level. Whether the child is attending public school or private school, every child who has spent their formative years at Marinda’s Family Daycare is advanced and well-prepared for elementary school.

Ms. Marinda provides care for school-age children by giving them a hot meal immediately after school, dropping them off and picking them up, and meeting with teachers to make sure they are on the right track. Ms. Marinda provides a studious environment for her children to complete assignments, and supplies fun activities such as board games, arcade games, and basketball when they are finished.

Throughout the COVID Pandemic, Marinda’s Family Daycare remained open to provide care for the children of essential workers. Ms. Marinda successfully navigated 7 separate virtual school classrooms, class work, over twenty separate teachers, class schedules, and assignments. She was determined that no child fell behind, and none of her elementary and junior high school students fell behind.

Ms. Marinda is a firm believer that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. With that scripture on her heart, she encourages the school-age children to give their best in all things - at all times. She instills in them that all things are possible. At Marinda’s daycare the school-age children are encouraged to talk about what colleges and universities they plan to attend, what careers they want to have, and the work it takes to accomplish their goals.

Every person who walks into Marinda’s Family Daycare is family; Ms. Marinda prays with and encourages families during hard times, celebrates their triumphs, lends a helping hand, and reminds parents and family members that her doors are always open.

Ms. Marinda has family fun days where all the children, parents, and families come together and visit local theme parks. Every holiday, the children make special art and craft keepsakes for their parents. Marinda and the children deliver holiday baskets to seniors living in the neighborhood. Marinda also hosts holiday parties for the children, parents, and extended families.

Ms. Marinda has always believed in working with parents’ work schedules. If the parent has to go to work early or get off late; Marinda is accommodating and flexible. At 65- years-old, Marinda has spent 35 years working 11-hour days caring for children and their families. And as she says, “I am in no way tired.”

Marinda’s Family Daycare 35th Anniversary Reunion will be a celebration in honor of Marinda’s love, education, and care to countless children, parents, and extended family members.
