REPORT

DISCUSSION:
On February 1, 2022, the City circulated an Invitation for Bids seeking contractors to construct the Shimada Park Restroom Roof project, which included roof reconstruction on an existing City Park restroom. The project is located at Shimada Park in the Richmond Marina. The original contract was for $225,000 and included a contingency in the amount of $17,225.
In the course of construction, some unexpected damage to the roof decking was encountered. This work was outside the original contract scope of the project.
Therefore, the contractor requested change orders to compensate for the additional work to correct this unforeseen condition. The work included replacement of roof skylights and metal lever windows that was not contemplated in the original contract.
The project change orders exceeded the project authorized appropriation by $22,667.25. Therefore, Public Works staff members request City Council approval of additional funds in the amount $22,667.25, for a new total contract limit not to exceed $247,667.25 to close the contract.
