DISCUSSION:

The Department of Public Works is requesting approval of a multi-year contract to provide fire extinguishers, fire suppression system, and fire sprinkler testing and repair services. The fire suppression system in City-owned facilities require annual and five- year testing, which are mandated by local, state, and federal authorities.

On March 29, 2023, the City issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for fire extinguishers, fire suppression system, and fire sprinkler testing and repair services where 105 vendors were notified. On April 17, 2023, two bids were received and evaluated.

The Department of Public Works recommends approval of a contract with International Fire Equipment Company, Inc. because they are the most qualified. International Fire Equipment Company, Inc., has successfully serviced the City’s fire extinguishers, fire suppression system, and fire sprinklers for the past five years. Their technicians are familiar with our facilities and have a good rapport with City staff.

The contract with International Fire Equipment Company, Inc. is requested in an amount not to exceed $100,000 over a three-year period, with an option to extend an additional two-years, in an amount not-to-exceed $70,000 for the two-year period. The term of the contract will begin July 1, 2023, and end June 30, 2026.
