STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Maryann Maslan Jacobson is re-applying for a seat on
the Richmond-Shimada Friendship Commission.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
REAPPOINT Maryann Maslan Jacobson to the
Richmond-Shimada Friendship Commission for a second
term. Term expires December 31, 2025 - Mayor’s Office

DISCUSSION:
Maryann Maslan Jacobson is re-applying for a second term to the Shimada Friendship Commission. Our office was happy to learn that the applicant has been very active in her first term. For the 60th year anniversary of this sister-city relationship, she put AGENDA

together a virtual event showcasing Richmond’s cultural diversity that is now archived in Shimada. Her work supports opportunities for ongoing cultural exchange, particularly for Richmond’s youth and their families. The Mayor’s Office believes her reappointment will help build upon what she has accomplished in her first term.
