A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND TO
ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE A FEDERAL AWARD PASSED THROUGH THE
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, AND TO ADJUST
APPROPRIATIONS BY $65,296 AND TO ADJUST EXPENDITURES BY $65,296 IN THE 2023-2024 LIBRARY BUDGET
WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of the 2023-2024 City of Richmond operating budget, the Richmond Public Library - LEAP was awarded $65,296 from the California Department of Education; the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Title II Adult Education and Family Literacy Act Grant (WIOA, Title II); and
WHEREAS, the additional grant funding of $65,296 will be able to provide adult literacy education and literacy activities to Literacy For Every Adult Program (LEAP) adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) participants; and
WHEREAS, this grant funding will continue Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language services at the Richmond Public Library’s adult literacy service, LEAP.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Richmond that the 2023-2024 Library Budget is adjusted to add $65,296 to revenue and to add $65,296 to expenditures.
