AGENDA
REPORT

DISCUSSION:
Richmond City Council hosts approximately three (3) open public meetings per month, using chairs purchased in 2008. During the pandemic, while virtual meetings were held, the City recognized the chairs were in a dilapidated state and needed to be reupholstered. Reupholstering the chairs will save the City money while improving the overall appearance of the chairs and Council Chambers.
On October 4, 2022, Richmond City Council approved a contract with O&R Auto Upholstery to reupholster 47 Council chairs. City staff is now requesting approval to contract with Red Door Upholstery to reupholster the remaining 126 chairs and four sofas.
A request for bids was solicited to three vendors. The bids were received as follows:
1. Red Door Upholstery, Oakland, CA $24,960.00
2. Onsite Upholstery & Wood Repair, Berkeley, CA $27,034.08
3. O&R Auto Upholstery, El Sobrante, CA $54,966.47
City staff members recommend approval of a contract with Red Door Upholstery as the lowest bidder, with a term beginning September 12, 2023, and ending September 12, 2024. The contract with Red Door Upholstery to reupholster 126 chairs and four sofas is requested in an amount not to exceed $30,000 including a $5,040 contingency for additional furniture as deemed necessary.
