The Human Resources (HR) Department has been working with the City Attorney's Office regarding their staffing needs. The department needs a Paralegal, a job classification that does not currently exist. HR has worked with City Attorney's Office staff to develop a job specification for the Paralegal classification, and the Personnel Board approved the classification on May 25, 2023.

This classification will be represented by General Employees Bargaining Unit Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 1021, and they are in agreement with establishing the classification and adopting the salary range.

Human Resources is requesting an amendment to the salary schedule to add the newly established classification of Paralegal and adopt the salary range.

RENT PROGRAM

Office Assistant I/II – 2 positions

The Rent Board approved the budget for the addition of two Office Assistant I/II positions for the Rent Program on June 12, 2023. The approved positions were not included in the position control document approved with the City budget on June 20, 2023. Therefore, these two approved positions must be added to position control by City Council action, which will document the administrative record and permit the Finance Department to effectuate the modification to position control.

The Human Resources Department proposes revisions to the Rent Program’s position control to add the above-referenced positions. The costs of the additional positions are approved by the Rent Board and covered by the current budget.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Rent Program approved the budget for two Office Assistants I/II on June 12, 2023, and the funding is in the current budget. Therefore, there is no new fiscal impact.
