DISCUSSION:

The YWCA of Contra Costa has been leasing space for childcare services at the west wing of the Richmond Recreation Complex located at 3230 Macdonald Avenue since January 1, 1949, with subsequent renewals upon the lease term expiration dates. The previous lease agreement for the term July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 has expired. The Recreation Division has negotiated a new lease agreement with the YWCA of Contra Costa to continue providing childcare service in this space for a one-year term from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. There is no change in the rental amount from the previous lease. The YWCA of Contra Costa was offered a multiple year lease; however, the tenant prefers to renew the lease annually.

The lease agreement has been reviewed and accepted by both parties and is now being submitted to City Council for approval.
