STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Councilmember Jimenez is requesting to be excused
from Council meetings for the period of October 4, 2023, through December 18, 2023.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE a request by Councilmember Claudia
Jimenez for a medical leave of absence from City Council Meetings during the period of October 4, 2023, through
December 18, 2023 – City Clerk’s Office (Pamela
Christian 510-620-6513).
DISCUSSION:
Due to medical reasons, Councilmember Claudia Jimenez will not be able to attend City Council meetings until December 19, 2023. As such, Councilmember Jimenez has AGENDA

requested to be excused from all City Council meetings, from the period of October 4, 2023, through December 18, 2023.
Article III, Section 10 of the City of Richmond Charter states that, “a vacancy shall be deemed to exist if a Councilmember, without the permission of the Council, absents himself from all regular City Council meetings for 60 days consecutively from the last regular meeting he attended.” Therefore, the Richmond City Council must approve or deny the leave of absence requested by Councilmember Jimenez.
