STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Melissa Garvey is applying for a vacant seat on the
Urban Forest Advisory Committee.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPOINT Melissa Garvey to the Urban Forest Advisory
Committee with a term that expires on November 17,
2026 – Mayor’s Office (Mayor Eduardo Martinez 510-
620-6503).
DISCUSSION:
Melissa Garvey has a passion for nature and building community. She sees the greening of Richmond as an important tool to combat climate change and local pollution. Her background in communications and project management gives her a unique skillset that could be an asset to the committee. She is also a former member of the Sierra Club which is an environmental organization.
