Re: 2024 ANNUAL RATE ADJUSTMENT
Dear Ms. Curl:
Pursuant to the Franchise Agreement between City of Richmond and Richmond Sanitary Service dated July 1, 1986, and as amended July 1, 2003, the collection service portion of the residential and commercial rates is being adjusted by the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward Metropolitan Area for All Urban Consumers. The published October 2022- October 2023 CPI change reflects an increase of 2.76%.
As provided for in the Franchise Agreement, the 2024 Annual Rate Adjustment is set at 3.25%, with a CPI of 2.76% + 0.49% carryover adjustment from 2023, an excess of 2.83% carryover to 2025. Notably, the cost for Bulky Item Curbside Clean-up decreased by $0.20 cents per month, signaling a slight participation reduction. The 35-gallon Senior Rate has been adjusted to properly reflect stipulated service Monthly rates for Residential and Commercial Service are reflected in the attached rate sheets.
