Re: Lease of Graving Basin Number 1
To whom it may concern,
“The Dutra Group” would like to respond to the Request for Proposal regarding the lease of Graving Basin Number 1. As current tenants of Basin 2 and the accompanying office our experience in managing maritime facilities combined with our working relationship with the Port of Richmond make this a natural fit to expand our footprint to the two basins.
Description of the intended use:
The Dutra group would use Basin 1 to continue to support our maritime dredging and construction activities in the Bay Area to a wide variety of private, state, and federal customers. Our fleet of barges, tugboats, crew boats, cranes and assorted other vessels would use the basin as a staging area for access, repairs, mooring, and crew change. Our dredge and construction crews are all composed of Local 3 Operator Engineers Union members bringing quality job opportunities based out of the Graving Docks. No major alterations or repairs will be needed for The Dutra Group to expand our footprint, possible small repairs would be limited to ensuring safe access based on our internal safety program which has an excellent track record in our current lease of Basin 2. Additional improvements would be to visually cleanup the area as we have done in Basin 2. Old trash, equipment, and general clutter will be removed and the housekeeping standards The Dutra Group has maintained on the current lease will be maintained on Graving Dock 1.
Financial Documentation:
As current tenants of Basin #2, any further documentation showing financial capability above and beyond previously submitted documentation to the Port of Richmond can be provided upon request. Current insurance is also above the thresholds listed and stated in the RFP.
