DISCUSSION:
NEMA Construction, recognized for its expertise in high voltage and traffic signal electrical repairs, has been a reliable on-call contractor for the City since September 8, 2020. The company operates under a three -year, $1,500,000 contract with the City, exten dable by two years, which was recently extended to September 30, 2025. NEMA's consistent delivery of high-quality work across various city projects, particularly in lighting and traffic signal systems, positions them as the ideal candidate for addressing the urgent electrical repair needs at the Point Potrero Marine Terminal.
Staff seeks to amend the existing As-Needed Contract for Electrical Services with NEMA to facilitate the issuance of Purchase Orders for necessary repairs, starting with a critical $75,000 project at the Port. This project will repair lighting and other electrical infrastructure at the Port Administrative building, ensuring the Port's operational efficiency and safety. Approval of this amendment will allow City Staff to swiftly address these needs, leveraging NEMA Construction's familiarity with the Port's systems and their competitive cost value.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
As this is repair work, the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act.
