A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND TO
ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE A GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY IN THE AMOUNT OF $139,204.
WHEREAS, the Richmond Public Library offers a Literacy for Every Adult Program (LEAP) to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) services to the community, including group classes and individual tutoring; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond Public Library has applied for and has the opportunity to receive grant award funding from the California State Library’s California Library Literacy Services program in support of its community ESL services; and
WHEREAS, the California Library Literacy Services Program has awarded to the Richmond Public Library total grant funding in the amount of $139,204 (Grant Monies) to further enable adult literacy education and literacy activities for ESL participants in LEAP; and
WHEREAS, this grant funding will continue ESL services at the Richmond Public Library’s adult literacy service, LEAP; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Richmond accepts and appropriates $139,204 in Grant Monies to support ESL services, and, authorizes the City Manager or their designee to execute grant agreements and any other grant-related documents in this regard.
