WHEREAS, Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering and honoring the courageous individuals who have selflessly served our nation, as well as recognizing the profound sacrifices made by their families; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond recognizes this day as a moment of reflection and gratitude for those who have given their lives in service; and
WHEREAS, we extend our heartfelt support to the families and loved ones of our fallen service members, whose strength and resilience embody the spirit of our community; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that we come together as a community to honor these individuals through ceremonies and acts of remembrance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond is committed to preserving the legacy of our fallen service members, inspiring future generations to understand the value of service and the significance of their sacrifices;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Eduardo Martinez, Mayor of the City of Richmond, California, on behalf of the Richmond City Council, do hereby recognize May 27, 2024, as Memorial Day in the City of Richmond and call upon all citizens to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
