DISCUSSION:
The Department of Public Works, Parks & Landscaping Division needs to restore communication between the central irrigation computer and the irrigation controllers in the field. The controllers currently communicate via radio signal, but the original communication method using analog phone modem to radio is no longer available. The proposed solution involves using a cellular-to-ethernet bridge to communicate with the repeater, which will send radio signals to the field controllers. Additionally, repairs will be made to recalibrate the crystals in the existing radios as they are not digital.
City staff recommend approving a sole source contract with SiteOne Landscape Supply to upgrade the irrigation computer system at Marina Bay Park. SiteOne Landscape is the only equipment manufacturer that can provide Rain Master replacement parts for the upgrade.
