REPORT
October 22, 2024
In November of 2023, the City Council approved providing this $75,000 grant from Prologis (for unhoused interventions) to LifeLong Medical Care which at the time had a Health Ambassador program that worked with unhoused people in Richmond. This program with LifeLong has since ended, and Prologis agrees that it would be best to refund the donation so that Prologis can provide the $75,000 contribution directly to an organization of their choice with recommendations of organizations who help with unhoused health and wellness needs in Richmond.
Currently SOS Richmond operates “The Warm Hand Wellness & Resource Centers” throughout the City which is in line with LifeLong’s former program. This $75,000 grant could support SOS Richmond or another organization that supports unhoused residents with the following:
Fountain Project (Eastern/Western medical practitioners based at LifeLong’s Jenkins Center and delivered at The Warm Hand, for acupuncture and massage) -- $20,000
Tiny Village Spirit (development of prospective villages that will be coordinated with The Warm Hand and other community resources, for villages that advance personal health and wellness, income, and an onramp to housing) – $18,000
Men & Women of Valor (for use of their center for weekly events of The Warm Hand in North Richmond) -- $4,000
Costs such as printing and others (for materials that support personal wellness, income and housing goals) -- $1,000
Heavy Duty Tents (providing safe, street-level empowerment village for residents to have sturdy protection as an alternative to living in unhealthy, unsafe encampments) -- $12,000
Fencing and gate (for an empowerment village to provide safety, security, stability and wellness for unhoused residents) -- $20,000
