A RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH FONROCHE LIGHTING AMERICA TO PROVIDE SOLAR LIGHTING EQUIPMENT FOR A THREE (3) YEAR PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 25, 2024 TO NOVEMBER 24, 2027, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,000,000.00 OVER THE THREE (3) YEAR TERM WITH TWO
ONE-YEAR OPTIONS TO EXTEND IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$2,000,000.00 FOR THE DURATION OF BOTH EXTENSION YEARS
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond recognizes the need for improved street light ning to enhance safety, visibility, and energy efficiency within our community; and
WHEREAS, the use of solar lightning technology is an environmentally friendly initiative that reduces reliance on non-renewable energy sources and lowers operating costs; and
WHEREAS, the installation of solar streetlights in parks, parking lots and roadways will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and promote sustainability in our community; and
WHEREAS, the use of solar streetlights shall address the issue o fn theft and vandalism that has plagued the streetlights within the City; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance and repair of solar streetlights to be installed within the City has a lesser cost in both materials and labor; and
WHEREAS, the selection of Fonroche Lighting America is based on the piggyback procurement method, utilizing the existing agreement awarded to Fonroche Lighting America by the League of Oregon Cities through a competitive bidding process; and
WHEREAS, the piggyback procurement is aligned to the Richmond Mu nicipal Code Section 2.52.330; and
WHEREAS, the contract with Fonroche Lighting America would be for an amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00 for a three-year term (November 25, 2024 to November 24, 2027) with two one-year options to extend and appropriatewith an additional amount not to exceed $2,000,000 .00 for the full term of the extension.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Richmond that a contract with Fonroche Lighting America is approved for the purchase of solar light fixtures and poles for a period of three years, from November 25, 2024, through November 24, 2027, with a total expenditure not to exceed $3,000,000.00. This contract includes two one-year extension options, at the City's discretion, with an additional amount not to exceed $2,000,000.00 for the full term of the extension.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the two one -year extension options with an additional amount not to exceed $2,000,000.00 for the full term of the two extensions.
