DISCUSSION:
We honor June Albonico for her unwavering dedication and six decades of service that profoundly shaped the Richmond swimming community. As a beloved lifeguard and swim instructor, June impacted the lives of thousands, teaching valuable life skills and fostering confidence, resilience, and a love for swimming. Her tireless advocacy for the Richmond Plunge ensured that future generations would have access to this vital community resource. June’s legacy is one of selfless service, deep community connections, and a lifelong commitment to enriching the lives of others. By honoring June, we acknowledge her immense contributions and ensure that her inspiring example of dedication, kindness, and commitment to the well-being of others continues to inspire future generations.
