ISSUE:
Elena Velazquez is reapplying to serve on the Richmond
Youth Council
RECOMMENDED ACTION: REAPPOINT Elena Velazquez to the Richmond Youth Council, term expires October 1, 2025 – Mayor’s Office

DISCUSSION:
We are pleased to recommend the reappointment of Elena Velazquez to the Richmond Youth Council. Since joining in April 2023, Elena has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth leadership and community service. With over a decade of involvement in organizations like the Bay Area Girls Club, The Latina Center, and Urban Tilth, she brings a wealth of experience in organizing and empowering young people.
Her leadership roles, such as serving as the Engagement Coordinator for her high school student body and as 3rd Lead for Urban Tilth’s 2024 Summer Youth Apprenticeship, showcase her ability to inspire and mobilize peers. Additionally, Elena’s AGENDA

participation in specialized programs like NorCal’s First Alarm Fire Camps and the Rosie Girls Summer Camp highlights her resilience, teamwork, and dedication to personal growth. Elena’s extensive experience in community outreach and youth development will continue to be a tremendous asset to the Richmond Youth Council as she helps advocate for and empower her peers.
