STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
The Richmond City Council currently meets every first,
third, and fourth Tuesday of each month unless special
exceptions are indicated within the Charter, Council
Rules and Procedures, or approved by the City Council.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE the cancellation of the July 15 and 22, and
August 5, 2025, Regular City Council meetings and
APPROVE an amendment to the Richmond City Council
recess to begin Tuesday, July 2, 2025; Council will
reconvene regular meetings on Tuesday, August 19,
2025 - City Clerk’s Office (Pamela Christian 510-620-
6513).
DISCUSSION:
The Richmond City Council has regularly scheduled meetings every first, third, and fourth Tuesday of every month unless exceptions are indicated within the Charter, Council Rules and Procedures, or approved by the City Council.

The Council’s regularly scheduled recess begins August 1 and reconvenes the first Tuesday following Labor Day (September 8, 2025). With approval of this item, the regular meetings scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 and 22 and August 5, 2025, will be cancelled, and the Richmond City Council will begin its recess Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and will reconvene Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Council Rules and Procedures state that “Any future regular or special meeting may be canceled by a vote of a majority of the members of the City Council during a regular or special meeting.”
