DISCUSSION:

The Public Works Department Fleet Division sent a Parks and Landscaping Division tree chipper for repair and maintenance with RDO Equipment Co. The cost of the repair exceeded $10,000 and requires City Council approval. Due to staffing changes this item did not have the appropriate oversight and the equipment was sent for repair before the appropriate contract approval process. The repair and maintenance work has been completed by the vendor, which has generated outstanding invoices, and the vendor requires payment for services prior to releasing the equipment.

The Parks and Landscaping Division is still in need of the repaired tree chipper. Therefore, Public Works has generated a new contract to f ollow the appropriate after -the-fact contracting process to pay the outstanding invoices. A tree chipper is an essential piece of equipment for the Parks and Landscaping Division tree crew to respond to routine and emergency work orders.
