Honoring the 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival
WHEREAS, Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s
remarkable victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza; and
WHEREAS, this day has evolved beyond its historical significance to become a vibrant celebration of Mexican-American culture, heritage, and community spirit across the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Richmond and San Pablo proudly host the 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo “Peace and Unity Festival,” a cherished tradition that unites people of all backgrounds in a joyful display of cultural pride and community solidarity; and
WHEREAS, this year we express our deep appreciation to the dedicated organizers of the Cinco de Mayo Festival, whose efforts continue to enrich our community and foster a sense of belonging and celebration; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 Cinco de Mayo Festival, held on May 4th, featured a day of music, dance, food, and crafts that beautifully showcased the richness and diversity of Mexican culture; and
WHEREAS, we gratefully acknowledge the many community members, volunteers, and the City of San Pablo for their steadfast support and partnership in making this annual celebration a resounding success.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Eduardo
Martinez, and the Richmond City Council do hereby recognize and honor the 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival and extend sincere appreciation to all who organized, supported, and participated in this meaningful celebration.
