STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Harlan Butt is applying for a vacant seat on the
Recreation and Parks Commission
RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPOINT Harlan Butt to the Recreation and Parks Commission, term expires October 26, 2026 – Mayor’s
Office (Mayor Eduardo Martinez 510-620-6503).
DISCUSSION:
Harlan Butt, a lifelong resident of Richmond and current high school sophomore, is seeking an appointment to serve on the Recreation and Parks Commission. Butt is interested in learning how the Commission operates and volunteering his time to positively impact the community. Butt hopes to contribute a younger perspective to the Commission’s work, with a focus on improving local parks and recreation opportunities.
Prior to applying, Harlan met with current Recreation and Parks Commissioners to better understand the responsibilities and time commitment involved in the role.
