Healthy Retail Retailer Opinion Poll
NOTES: BACR staff and youth advocates will fill out this info.

Introduction: Thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. At the request of the city, we are gathering
input from Richmond food retailers about the potential implementation of a Healthy Retail policy, which would require stores to stock healthier food items, including foods with no more than 5 grams of added sugar or 200 mg of sodium per serving and beverages with no added sugars or non-nutritive sweeteners, in checkout queues and within three feet of the point of sale. The ordinance would NOT require you to stock perishable foods like fruits and vegetables, but would require foods like those pictured here (share eligible foods/beverages/gum/mints handout). You could also choose to stock non-food items like
magazines, toys, gift cards etc.

The ordinance may also include a clause that requires sodas to be located in one place in the store.

Y
our feedback will help us understand your level of support, anticipated challenges, and the type of assistance that
would help facilitate implementation.
