STATEMENT OF THE
ISSUE:
Anita Pereira is reapplying to serve on the Urban Forest Advisory Committee
RECOMMENDED ACTION: REAPPOINT Anita Pereira to the Urban Forest Advisory Committee with a term that expires on November 17,
2028 – Mayor’s Office (Mayor Eduardo Martinez 510-
620-6503).
DISCUSSION:
The mayor recommends the reappointment of Anita Pereira to the Urban Forest Advisory Committee. Since 2022, Pereira has contributed her time and expertise to making Richmond forested, ecological, and sustainable, with a focus on expanding the tree canopy, understory, and native groundcover while preserving wildlife biodiversity.
Ms. Pereira also actively beautifies public spaces, including the Carlson medians, Mendocino Park, and a native plant garden in Lucas Park. She is a member of the AGENDA

Sierra Club, California Native Plant Society, and Audubon Society, and participates in Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour.
She holds a B.A. in Sociology and a Doctor of Optometry, both from UC Berkeley. Her dedication and hands-on efforts make her an asset to the committee.
